The Old Dairy Barn

We had an enjoyable stay at the Dairy Barn. The size of the unit was perfect for our extended family, which consisted of grandparents, parents and children! The children and adults both enjoyed the courtyard space. Plenty of comfortable seating and space to spread out. The barn was convenient to nearby towns for shopping, grocers, restaurants and sights - yet, it was off the beaten path. The kitchen is well equipped. The barn also has laundry facilities, lots of books (for adults and children), and toys/entertainment for everyone in the family. The owners are friendly, accessible and very accommodating. This area of England is one not to be missed. Devon is simply breathtaking and there is so much to see, all within a short distance. This holiday was one my family thoroughly enjoyed. I highly recommend this rental.

Wishing I was back at Pridhamsleigh

Upon leaving Pridhamsleigh, our family traveled to London for a few nights.  What a transition from the quiet and quaintness of the Dairy Barn!  We are back home in the States now and I still find myself waking up and wishing I was back at Pridhamsleigh!  The location was perfect for us and Devon is simply one of the world's most beautiful places.  Thank you for sharing your home with us.   We hope to visit again.

My husband, son and I had a very enjoyable stay at Rotary Court. We were travelling from Hong Kong and decided to choose an apartment over our usual choice of a hotel. What a good decision!

Wendy was very efficient handling the booking and all the questions we had, we arrived to find a thoughtful gift, fresh flowers and a well-equipped apartment just a stone's throw from Hampton Court Palace. We were spoilt for choice when it came to dining, we spent some evenings exploring the interesting pubs and restaurants nearby, as well as cooking at the apartment itself. The kitchen is equipped with all the utensils that you would need, as well as a large oven and microwave. Everything looked shiny and new.

The apartment itself was very clean and modern, despite the traditional character of the building. The neighbours were friendly and it was great being able to park our car in secure parking at the back of the building, which incidentally has a view of the river and the well-manicured gardens. We always looked forward to going back to a warm and cosy apartment in the evening. By the same token, we imagine it would be very relaxing to sit on the outside patio with a glass of wine admiring the views when the weather is warmer.

We would love to come back again if we had the chance, there were so much nice touches about our stay, from the hospitality extended by Wendy and Graham from start to finish, to the wonderful apartment itself!

Perfect location in a beautiful barn *****

My husband and I stayed in the Milk Churn cottage for the 6 night special. For the first 3 days it was just my husband and I then we collected our children ( only in South Somerset) then we had a family holiday for the remaining time. The property itself was fantastic. It was a real home from home feeling, it was very well equipped and a lovely space to relax. Wendy has done a fantastic job with the luxurious furnishings and interior design. I slept so well in the comfortable bed!! The children especially loved the huge courtyard to play in, as did I, as it was very safe and containing and I could see the children whilst I cooked the supper. Wendy was very informative and responsive. Not only did it feel Wendy went 'all out' to make sure the accomodation was right for us but also was really informative about things to do in the area. However I had my local tourist guide; my husband as he grew up in the area. So for us it was lovely to see all the areas my husband has spoken so fondly of over the years. We managed to see so much as Pridhamsleigh (Milk Churn Cottage) is positioned perfectly. We visited the beautiful town of Totnes, visited Buckfastleigh Abbey, browsed the exclusive and beautiful shops of Ashburton and bought some great gifts. We went down to the coast of Bigbury on sea. My husband and I (before we picked the children up!) had a very romantic walk which we recommend from Hope Cove to Thurlestone which has breathtaking views of the coastline. As a family we visited Salcombe and had great fish and chips. We also had a great family walk in the moors and walked up to Haytor. We went swimming in Paignton where there is a splashdown pool. We didn't get to go on the Steam train from Paignton to Kinswear which is supposed to be lovely, as it rained! Hence why we went swimming instead. So all in all we managed to pack things in to suit the needs of everyone all round. We would definately stay at Milk Churn Cottage again and recommend it highly. Thank you Wendy and Graham

A relaxing week in stunning surroundings *****

The architecture of the barns and the amazing care that has been taken in restoring them is astonishing- Absolutely stunning and completely inspiring!
We stayed in both 'The Old Dairy Barn' and 'Milk Church cottage' as we had various family members staying- both buildings were fantastic in their own special ways. The Dairy Barn is funky and spacious with beautiful high ceilings. Milk Churn cottage is cosy and homely and takes on the essence of country style living.
Both were incredibly clean and well equipt. The bedding and furnishings incredibly good quality and the attention to guest detail fantastic- even down to supplying us with dishwasher tablets!
We had plenty of space both inside and out to sit and relax- and this is what you will do because everything about this stay is RELAXING!
The area is just to die for, we are great lovers of the beach so more than happily trotted our way off to the Mecca which is Salcombe for the day. Bigbury is nearby which gave us our fill of bodyboarding and sandy beach walks across to Burgh Island. Totnes is a beautiful old town and coffee shop central-we arrived here via the Steam train from Buckfastleigh which is just down the road from the barns. Dartmouth town and harbour is so picturesque and fun to hop on a ferry to explore somewhere new. The nearby town of Ashburton is very classy and has some very interesting antique shops and an olde worlde bookshop which we spent over an hour in. The children loved climbing the moors and we found that nearly every town has it's own open air swimming pool which was a real novelty. The men of our group took their bikes and found some great routes (and pubs!) over the moors and even took a peak into the nearby caves which were apparently amazing- we certainly weren't bored!!!!
If I had to summarize the holiday in one word it would be 'CLASSY!'

Wonderful London Alternative *****

Review Submitted: 08 October 2012 Date of Stay: September 2012

This Thames-side studio apartment across the road from Hampton Court Palace provides a relaxing, convenient alternative to staying in congested central London. Everything is still easily reached by bus of train, with stations only steps away, but you return to a magnificent garden setting with your own shaded patio and chairs where you feel you are enjoying the best of scenic Britain. While compact, the apartment has everything you need for comfortable sleeping, showering and making your own meals when you want to relax from touring and watch the latest, news, drama or movie on the wide range of available channels. There's a wide choice of grocery stores and restaurants within walking distance and fine shopping in Kingston-on-Thames only five minutes away by bus, or 45 minutes cruise by ferry along The Thames in season. Best of all is the sensitive and warm attention of your hosts, Wendy and Graham, who will arrange for an ex-BBC friend to pick you up or deliver you to Heathrow Airport for a very competitive fare. All of these fine benefits also make the apartment a convenient and relaxing choice as a base if you are in London on business. A special thanks to Wendy for the all the thoughtful furnishing and convenient supplies which greet your arrival.
Owner's Response: Thank you Doug for this brilliant review,It was a pleasure having you stay. One of the things I enjoy about renting our apartment out is the interesting people we meet. It never ceases to amaze me the different holidays that people take and how far they travel i.e. in your case Canada. After your trip around Europe as well I am really glad we were able to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. Kind regards, Wendy

Great stay at Milk Churn barn

Review Submitted: 06 September 2012 Date of Stay: September 2012

A great barn in wonderful location with lots to do and see; easy day trips to great beaches like Bigbury, Hope Cove and Beesands. Lovely towns of Ashburton and Totnes near by.

Riverford Organic restaurant and shop were a fantastic tip from Wendy and the food was great.

Wendy and Graham made us feel very welcome and provided all the baby stuff for our 16 month old daughter which was fantastic and made our stay so easy.
Being able to bring our two elderly dogs with us was another bonus and they loved walks in the woods and some lovely sand beaches.
Would highly recommend it for couples, families and people with dogs.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much. We really enjoyed meeting with you and your family. I must give my daughter credit for all the baby apparatus we have as she has a two year old and she advised me on what we would need. I agree Riverford is great for a treat, and Ashburton with all its interesting individual shops is a must. Bigbury is still my favourite beach and perfect for water sports.
Pridhamsleigh Manor is evolving and improving all the time and we look forward to your return.
Many thanks, Wendy and Graham.

A gem of a find!

My husband and I were looking for a rental for 21 days somewhere outside of central London. We found this property and it was such a blessing! It had everything we needed and the property is as seen in the photos. You can see the Thames river from our back patio. Train station is 2 min walk. Hampton court palace is across the road and all the shops and stores are a 4 min walk over the bridge. We had a wonderful stay and the owner was very nice and left us a card and wonderful flowers and strawberrys. This was a great expereince for us and we will definetly use this property again! Fantastic Base for Dartmoor

Review Submitted: 30th August 2012 Date of Stay: July 2012

A wonderful stay. From the moment we made contact, the enquiries, booking and our stay was first class. The little touches were all there - the travel cot and changing mat for our baby, a great welcome pack and even the complimentary local wine! It's a great base to explore Devon, we loved it for it's closeness to Dartmoor but we also ventured to the coast and further afield. HIghly recommended for all, and we'd definitely return again!

Luxury Long Weekend

Review Submitted: 21 May 2012 Date of Stay: May 2012
Stayed in the Old Dairy Barn for a long weekend with a group of friends and couldn't have asked for better hospitality! The owners went out of their way to make us feel welcome and their personality is clearly felt in the wonderful comfy decor.

When we arrived late on the Friday night a fuse had blown and there was no hot water, but we shot off a quick email to the owners before we went to bed and were woken first thing the next morning by a friendly local tradesman who came in and saw to it that we all had a hot shower. Amazingly efficient resolution by the owners to a problem that was not of their making.

There was plenty of room for 8 of us, with huge living areas and games and DVDs to keep us occupied we didn't need to leave the house. But there are plenty of interesting local places to explore, and we made visits to a castle, a winery and the beach.

Couldn't recommend it more highly!

A jewel in the crown of Hampton Court Palace!

This wonderfully appointed modern apartment is set in truly magnificent gardens that roll down to the edge of the Thames River where the yatchs bob on the water. The apartment has central heating on a timer so the apartment is always temperate. Your hosts Wendy and Graham are so helpful and friendly. This isn't accomodation - it's a home. Hampton Court station is a 300 metre stroll away for a train into the centre of London. There are several shops and cafes opposite the station. Bus stops are even closer (one right next to the apartment building) for a 10 minute ride to the centre of Kingston-upon-Thames where you'll find every shop large and small that you require. There's a great pub and lovely restaurant jutting out over the Thames 100 metres from your door. You must visit the magnificent Hampton Court Palace which is also 100 metres away. Allow at least 4 hours for this great tour. Do yourself a favour - stay at this jewel in the crown of Hampton Court Palace!

Fantastic Accomodation - Highly Recommended

Myself and 7 others had a long weekend staying at the Pridhamsleigh / Old Dairy Barn in Dartmouth and we all had a great time.
The Old Dairy Barn is fantastic - steeped in history, Wendy and Graham have done a great job in re-building and modernising these buildings.

As the pictures show, the accommodation interior is very modern and clean and provides everything you need. There was plenty of room for all 8 of us with a huge living / dining area on the second floor. The bedrooms were very comfortable and warm.

The property itself was very clean and as specified in the advertisement.

The owners took time to advise on things to do and places to see which was greatly appreciated. They went over and above what was required to ensure that we had a good time - excellent service.

Overall - we would all recommend this accommodation, combining interesting history, modern accommodation in an attractive location with excellent hosts.

In addition - in terms of place of interest - we would highly recommend Agaric, a local restaurant located in Ashburton (5 min drive) where the food and service were exceptional. Also Bigbury on Sea was also very good to visit.

I stayed in Wendy's beautiful and luxurious apartment with my 2 daughters age 11 and 16 in July 2011. We had a truly wonderful holiday as there was something for us all. The apartment is exactly as described on the website and more! It is immaculately clean and tidy. We arrived to find fresh flowers, a gift and a welcome card too. (Thank you Wendy)

We met quite a few of Wendy's neighbours as we sat outside on the lovely patio in the evenings - they are all very friendly. The gardens of the apartment building are beautiful and, after a frantic day out in London, an oasis for a quiet read in the sun.

The apartment is perfect as a base for exploring London as it is very easy to get to all the attractions by train. If you keep your train ticket, you can download all the 2 for 1 offers on the website for London attractions which saves a fortune!

We were lucky enough to go to the Royal Hampton Court flower show as well as tour the Royal Hampton Court Palace ( Definitely our favourite place of all! )

We all enjoyed Bushy Park- yes the deer are tame and literally 3 minutes walk from the appartment.

All the local hotels, pubs and restaurants made us very welcome and were child friendly. The terrace of the hotel by the river is stunning and we loved watching the swans whilst we had dinner. The shops over the bridge are great for browsing and full of quirky and interesting things. There is a fabulous home and garden shop on the apartment side of the bridge as well.

The river ferry to Kingston on Thames is a must do - we loved that!- Lots of "wow" houses along the river bank throughout the journey. Going by bus is easy to do too. Kingston on Thames was more pleasant for shopping than manic Oxford Street in London: loads of shops there within easy walking distance and a very pretty town.

Overall, I would recommend Wendy's apartment to anyone who is looking for a safe, pleasant and special holiday. As a single mum with 2 children I was worried about being on my own in London - we are from Aberdeen so do not know the area well. Hampton Court proved perfect for us as we had the best of both worlds - the excitement of the city of London and the beautiful tranquility and safe haven of the quieter Hampton Court. However, I would recommend the apartment to couples of all ages too. The service Wendy provides is outstanding.

We hope to be back again in the near future.

Lovely and clean!!
A very modern interior in a beautiful old building- fantastically placed for hopping on the train to London as we did.
The neighbouring towns of Kingston and Richmond were beautiful and kept us busy for hours.
Right by Hampton Court Palace which was stunning, we loved exploring the gardens...and tea room!
The flat was also right by the river which made for really lovely eveing walks and the village of Hampton which is 5 mins walk away had a great selection of restaurants, food shops and take aways.
Bushy park was directly opposite, we took a very long walk through here and were amazed at how tame the deer are.
So much to do, you could really use this as a base to explore for weeks!!
The flat is so well placed for transport that you could do it all via foot, no hire car needed- a real bonus.
The interior was clean and modern- the shower was lovely! It had a nice patio overlooking the river and the bedding was clean and fresh.
The owners were friendly and helpful.
We would definitely visit again- Thank you!!

The best night's sleep I have had in years!

Review Submitted: 12 May 2012 Date of Stay: April 2012
On the journey home we discussed our holiday and my conclusion was, I had the best night's sleep in years!! Not only were the beds comfortable and bedding fresh and clean but I actually was able to RELAX and therefore sleep like a baby. The buildings are magnificent, the photos do them no justice, we felt as if we were on a film set for a Jayne Eyre movie. The children loved the open space in the barn and freedom that it gave them and my wife now wants to redecorate our home as she felt inspired by the furnishings. We are outdoors people so we had lots to explore with the caves, Abbey, Dartmoor and the nearby coast. You are tucked away but also near enough to civilization if you need to find some shops etc. The owners were very helpful and the facilities were incredibly clean. Wifi worked better than in our London home which was a nice surprise. Space to park my car. More than pleased we stayed, a great escape from the norm. Highly recommended- Thank you!

We had a wonderful time at this lovely flat!

The listing was accurate, the property very clean and well maintained, the owner is an outstanding host. We highly recommend this flat and we hope to visit it again. It has an exquisite garden with privacy, mature trees and the Thames. The flat is well designed, very clean and well kept. Wendy provides full info on use of appliances, local maps, suggestions and activities. Lots of extra touches, extra blankets, and a well stocked, very efficient kitchen with a nice sized freezer. We enjoyed walks along the river, and visiting Hampton Court Palace down the street. Restaurants and good pubs nearby, and just across the bridge are shops and restaurants, the train to Central London, and a Marks & Spencer Food Mart! Just in front of the flat is the bus to Kingston upon Thames, with its large shopping area (including a huge M&S), river walks and boats, and masses of history. The Museum gives a good historical overview, and All Saints Church, founded in 1120 AD, is a fine example of English church architecture over the years, as are the buildings surrounding the Church and marketplace. The historic market is fun, still selling fruit, vegetables and fresh fish, and the Market Hall houses the tourist information center. Down the street is the Rose Theatre, with a regular schedule of excellent productions. We could go on and on; there is so much to see and do in this beautiful corner of England. Yes, we plan to return to Rotary Court, and we highly recommend Wendy's property. Location? Michael Faraday's and Sir Christopher Wren's homes on one side and Cardinal Wolsey's on the other, with Henry VIII just down the street. The flat is extremely relaxing and comfortable, Wendy is a warm and friendly host, and that makes all the difference especially when you plan a trip on the internet from thousands of miles away.
